Why does it make some people angry to give their best to God?
He gave his best (Jesus) to us!!
When it was time for the harvest, Cain presented SOME of his crops as a gift to the Lord. Abel also brought a gift-the BEST of the firstborn lambs from his flock. The LORD accepted Abel and his gift, but did not accept Cain and his gift. This made Cain very angry. Genesis 4:3-5
We need to bring a gift to the Lord! That gift is ourselves and our best!
Notice it says God accepted Abel and his gift!
Giving ourself to God is the beginning of a life of giving to God, giving him our best and giving to others comes next!
“Why are you so angry?” the Lord asked Cain. “You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.” Genesis 4:6-7
Being sins master is something we can not do without God! God is the only one that can help us subdue sin in our lives!
God,
We thank you that Jesus made a way for us to master sin! Help us to give ourselves to you and ask for help to subdue sin when we choose to do wrong! Thank you that because of Jesus you do not banish us from your presence but you continue to love us unconditionally! Jesus is the best gift anyone has ever given to us. Help us to give you our best and not just some of our lives! With your help we declare that we are “able” to do what is right! In Jesus name we pray amen.
