“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24

Some days, this verse feels easy to live out. The sun is shining, our hearts feel light, and joy flows naturally. But other days… (like when you get caught in a rainstorm) this life presses hard on us.

On days that come with rain or pain, instead of feeling glad, we feel sad. Tears come without warning. Grief settles in our chest. Disappointment weighs heavy. And we wonder, How do I rejoice on a day like this?

Other days, we feel mad. Something triggers us. Someone wounds us. Pressure builds up inside and suddenly we fly off the handle. Loud, angry words spill out before we even realize what’s happening. And afterward, we’re left with regret.

And if we’re honest, there are moments when we feel bad—not just emotionally, but spiritually. Moments when we do what we know we shouldn’t. We might cheat, tell a lie, reject someone who loves us, or turn our back on what is right. Shame tries to convince us that this day no longer belongs to God.

But here is the truth:

This is still the day the Lord has made.

Not just the happy days.

Not just the easy days.

Not just the days when we get it all right.

This day—right in the middle of sadness, anger, weakness, and failure—still belongs to Him.

God never said every day would feel good. But He did promise that every day would be His. And when we give Him our sad, our mad, and our bad, He has a way of turning it into something sacred. He meets us in tears. He steadies us in anger. He forgives us in our failures.

Rejoicing doesn’t always mean smiling. Sometimes rejoicing simply means choosing to trust God again—right in the middle of the mess. Sometimes being “glad” is whispering, Lord, I don’t feel joy yet… but I still believe You are here.

And that choice—right there—honors Him.

So today, whatever you’re feeling:

Sad… mad… or even burdened by the bad—

Lift your eyes and remember:

This is still the day the Lord has made.

And even here… we can choose to give Him praise.

Prayer:

Lord, You know how I feel today. You see my sorrow, my anger, and my struggles. Help me to give this day back to You—just as it is. ***(Rainy and soaking wet)***

Teach my heart how to rejoice again, not because life is perfect, but because You are faithful. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
