(Inspired by Genesis 29–30)

Growing up with my sisters wasn’t always easy. My oldest sister moved away when I was around 7 or 8, and I missed her so much. While that left me with still one sister at home, we were so opposite. We argued and seemed distant through the years. Yet we loved one another in a “family” sort of way. She didn’t want anyone to hurt me nor did i want anyone to hurt her. Yet we were very different in our ways and our choices. That didn’t make either of us better than the other though. We are both loved by God and each of us has a calling and purpose from God.

Two sisters in the Bible (Leah and Rachel) were different and wanted different things in their lives as well.

Leah wanted to be loved.

Rachel wanted to be fruitful.

And both of them spent years looking at what the other had — wishing, aching, comparing.

Leah had sons but felt unseen.

Rachel had Jacob’s heart but felt empty.

Two sisters. Two blessings. Two broken hearts. 💔

Comparison always whispers the same lie: “If I just had what she has, I’d finally be happy.”

But God was writing a bigger story through both of them — one that reached all the way to Jesus.

Leah gave birth to Judah, whose line brought forth the Messiah.

Rachel gave birth to Joseph, who God used to save His people.

Different blessings. Same faithful God. ✨

If you ever find yourself comparing your journey, your looks, or your success to someone else’s — pause and breathe. You are not forgotten. You are chosen for a purpose only you can fulfill. 🌸

Let her shine, and shine right beside her — because there’s enough light for both of you.

Father in Heaven,

I am so thankful to be loved by you. Help me keep my eyes focused on you and your love for me. When I lose that focus and start comparing myself to others I forget how much I am loved by you and how you have good plans for me. My eyes are on you Lord and I ask for help keeping that focus continuously as you work each day fulfilling your calling and purpose through me. In Jesus name amen
