“For in Him we live and move and have our being.”
— Acts 17:28
Some days our spirit feels stiff long before our joints do. We wake up with good intentions, but our heart feels heavy, our body is tired, and our faith feels like it’s stretching through molasses.
And then that little phrase floats in —
“Motion is lotion.”
Physically, it’s true. When we move, our joints create lubrication. Muscles warm, stiffness loosens, energy returns. Healing isn’t always found in the big workout… sometimes it’s in the first gentle step. (A yoga faith movement)
But spiritually? Oh, friend — this is gospel gold.
God didn’t design us to stay stuck. He wired us to move with Him.
• A tiny prayer whispered is motion.
• A worship song hummed in the kitchen is motion.
• Forgiving a little at a time? (Or better yet all at once like Jesus) Motion.
• Opening your Bible even when you’re tired or first thing in the morning. Motion.
• Choosing to love when your feelings are slow to follow? Motion.
The breakthrough usually isn’t in the leap —
it’s in that first inch of movement toward Him.
Like the woman who reached for Jesus’ garment…
Like Peter stepping out of the boat…
Like the lame man told to pick up his mat…
Movement precedes miracles. ![]()
And the good news? God never demands a marathon.
He meets us in the step.![]()
So today, move a little — body
and soul.![]()
Stretch, breathe, go on a walk, whisper a prayer, lift your hands for 15 seconds, open the Word even for one verse.
Let motion be the “lotion” that softens your spirit and fuels your faith.
Prayer:
Jesus, help me take holy steps toward You today — even small ones.
Anoint my movement, bless my effort, and meet me in every inch I lift toward Your presence. Loosen what’s stiff, restore what’s weary, and fill me with fresh strength as I move with You. Amen.
